FAQs

I already have a stamp card, can I continue to use this stamp card while I’m a member?

The Loyalty Card Complimentary and the Matakana Cinemas Membership cannot be used at the same time. We do have two options you could consider:
Option A is if you are purchasing tickets at the box office, you can have the choice of either continuing using the stamp card, or we can process the points onto your membership.
Option B is we can transfer your current stamps to the membership at a rate of 15 points per stamp - we will be able to transfer these points as soon as possible, however this can take up to 3 business days to process as management need to manually apply points to your account.

How long do points remain on my membership before they expire?

Membership points are valid for 2 years from the date they were obtained.

Can I use my points for free tickets to all movie screenings?

Points can only be used for the following tickets:
-Standard Adult ticket
-Standard Senior ticket
-Standard Student ticket
-Standard Community Service Card ticket
-Standard Child Ticket
-Cinema Enigma

Points can not be used for all other tickets. Some examples include:
-Family Pass & Grand Pass
-Vintry Monday
-Film Festival tickets
-Met Opera tickets
-Andre Rieu tickets
-Private Hires
-Private Functions
-Fundraiser Screenings

Do I receive points on any tickets I purchase?

Yes, all tickets that are sold through Matakana Cinemas will receive points. Even tickets that can’t be purchased with points will still accrue points. For example: although Film Festival tickets cannot be purchased with membership points, you will still accrue points on your membership card when you purchase Film Festival Tickets.

For bundled tickets, only the ticket portion will accrue points. For example, Vintry Monday tickets have a ticket component and a drink component and only the ticket component will accrue points.

Do I receive points for hosting or attending private hires, fundraisers or cinema hires?

Only tickets purchased directly through Matakana Cinemas will receive points. Any tickets purchased through a 3rd party, for example a fundraiser screening or private hire, will not accrue points.

How does the free birthday ticket work?

The free birthday ticket will be automatically loaded onto your membership on the date of your birthday. You are able to use this online or in person at any time up until 1 month, where it will expire.

Can other people use my membership?

Only the owner of the membership can use the membership, however the owner can purchase multiple tickets for different people and collect all the points on their membership.

Can I accrue points from buying popcorn or drinks / any other foods?

We call all non ticketed items concessions, and currently points can only be obtained through ticket purchases…. …but watch this space!

Do I accrue points for 3D screenings?

Yes, all standard 3D screenings where the tickets have been purchased directly from Matakana Cinemas will accrue points. Like bundled tickets, you will only accrue points for the ticket component and not for the 3D glasses hireage.

Does the annual renewal occur automatically or do I need to manually activate it again? Will I know when my renewal anniversary is coming up?

Approximately one month before your Membership expires, we will email you reminding you to renew.
You can renew your Membership Rewards online – just $30 for the whole year! And you can keep the same card and continue to accrue more points.
On the website under Account, you can also toggle your auto renewal on and off.

What is an exclusive membership screening?

Exclusive membership screenings are screenings that only guests with a Matakana Cinema Membership can attend. You’ll only be able to purchase tickets for these screenings if you have a valid Matakana Cinema Membership. Members will be sent an email invite to these screenings also.

How does the 10% discount at The Vintry on the day of your movie work?

To receive the 10% discount at The Vintry you will need to show a valid Matakana Cinema Membership card and your ticket for that day's screening. The 10% discount is only valid at The Vintry and only for beverages and not food.

What does the ‘+add member’ button on My Membership website mean? Does this add members to my card?

Matakana Cinemas Memberships are for individual ownership only, however you can purchase multiple tickets using your membership.

For exclusive member screenings, how do we allow only members to purchase tickets?

Members can purchase a ticket online or in person if they have a current Matakana Cinemas Membership. Having a membership will allow a ticket option to appear on the website or at the cinema box office. Without a valid membership, this ticket option won't be available.

Matakana Cinema Membership Terms and Conditions

The Matakana Cinema Membership is a membership programme offered by Matakana Cinemas to Matakana Cinema members

By signing up to the Matakana Cinema Membership, you agree to the following terms and conditions, which govern your membership to the Matakana Cinema Membership.

Memberships are valid for a 12 month period from the date of purchase at a rate of $30 per annum.
Memberships can be renewed for subsequent 12 month periods at the same rate of $30 per annum.
Points are accrued through the purchasing of tickets at the rate of 2 points per $1 spent.
Concession purchases, gift vouchers and booking fees and other items do not accrue points
Points can be accrued through purchasing online or in person.
Points accrued through the membership can only be used to purchase tickets to standard screenings.
Standard screenings include screenings with our standard ticket pricing and do not include ticket packages for example the Family Pass or for special screenings; special screenings include film festivals, NT Live, Met Opera and other alternative content that we deem as different to our standard screenings.
Although points cannot be used for special screenings, points can still be accrued for purchasing tickets to special screenings.
Fundraiser screenings, cinema hires and other private events do not accrue membership points.
Points cannot be used for partial payments. The full amount of points is required to purchase tickets.
Points cannot be used to purchase gift cards or gift vouchers
In the event points are purchased to a screening that is subsequently cancelled for any reason, the full amount of points will be refunded to your membership
Points cannot be exchanged for cash, nor transferable to credit cards.
Points expire after 24 months.
Tickets to exclusive membership screenings can only be purchased with a green or black Matakana Cinema Membership.
Memberships can only be used by the owner of the membership, however multiple tickets can be purchased by the member using their membership.
ID may be required to confirm the ownership of the membership.
10% discount on beverages at The Vintry is subject to change at any time at the discretion of The Vintry.
10% discount on beverages at The Vintry is only vaild to members who present their cinema ticket for that day..
10% discount on beverages at The Vintry does not apply to Vintry Mondays, private hire, fundraisers and select event ticket bundles e.g. Ladies Night..
Matakana Cinemas collect and use the personal information disclosed at sign up.
By joining the membership and providing your email address, you agree to receive emails and other communications. You may update your communication preferences including to unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the 'unsubscribe link' in our emails.
The free birthday ticket is valid from the date of your birthday for 30 days. You may be asked to provide proof of your date of birth when collecting your free birthday ticket.
Matakana Cinemas reserves the right to make changes to the membership points system which may occur, including the removal and or addition of benefits.
Some additional benefits added to the membership points system may be temporary or restricted to certain conditions.
A replacement membership card fee will incur a $5 cost
Loyalty Card Complimentary cards and Matakana Cinema Membership cannot be used concurrently.
